Our Culture

The University Motto, ‘And Gladly Teche’ underpins the culture of the Division of Economic & Financial Studies (EFS), embracing the joy of teaching, learning and achieving success.

EFS strives for excellence in academic performance embracing a strong sense of involvement with the wider community and an appreciation for enjoying life and the satisfaction of valuable work.

We foster a friendly, open and less formal approach than you might expect from one of Australia’s top Universities. This approach, profiled in our student EFS Newsletters, leads to an educational environment that not only creates academic excellence by bringing staff and students closer together, but creates well-rounded graduates with the knowledge and personal skills needed for success.

We believe that a university must do more than just develop accomplished academics. We also have a responsibility to the community as a whole to instil in our students a sense of community responsibility and broad awareness.

Strong exchange programs and travel scholarships give our students the opportunity to study and work overseas providing a global outlook and multicultural understanding.

A strong culture in teaching informed by comprehensive and up-to-date research is assisted by close links with industry and the relevant professions.

EFS also looks at ways we can contribute to our community and encourages staff to engage with the local and global community.
