Appeals Against Final Grades and Exam Script Viewing

What's it about?

Appeal Against Final Grades

There might be times when you think there is a problem with your final grade. The Appeal Against Final Grades process is there to help you resolve any problems.

Important: You can’t appeal your grade because of poor academic performance. See Helpful Information below for more information about valid and invalid grounds for appeal.

The appeal process has three steps:

  • Step 1: The first stage of appeal is to the Lecturer in Charge (LIC) of the unit. Your LIC will consider your appeal based on what you write in your application. Specific cut-off dates apply to applications – for details, see the table below.

You must do a Step 1 application before you can go to Step 2 and Step 3.

  • Step 2: If the LIC’s response has not addressed your concerns from your Step 1 appeal, you may then appeal to the Dean of the Division. The EFS Director of Undergraduate Studies will consider your appeal based on what you write in your application together with the outcome of your Step 1 appeal and through consultation with the LIC of the unit. Specific cut-off dates apply to applications – for details, see the table below.

You must do a Step 1 and Step 2 application before you can go to Step 3.

  • Step 3: If your concerns are still not resolved you may then lodge a formal appeal to the Grading Appeals Committee via the Academic Registrar. Students must consult the Dean of Students before submitting a Step 3 appeal.

Don’t forget - your Step 3 application must be submitted within five (5) working days of receiving the result of your Step 2 appeal.

Exam Script Viewing

It is recommended that you view your exam script before submitting a grade appeal so you can check the addition and allocation of marks.

Important: you can only view your exam script once for each unit.

When can I appeal my final grade?
