The contacts Ron made are likely to develop into collaborative efforts with both the EBN and the APEC EWG Secretariat. The Secretariat is headed by Australia, through staff in the Department of Industry, Tourism, and Resources. Both entities showed interest in developing ties with the Australian academic community. The EBN, in particular, showed an interest in advancing research that illuminated the role of markets in addressing energy-related issues. They are interested in seeing Ph.D. research developed in this area. And, there may be opportunities to provide some support into the policy development effort driven by the Secretariat.
