The 2005 Di Yerbury Economic and Financial Studies Lecture was be held at 6pm on 30 May 2005 at the Hotel InterContinental in Sydney.
The speaker this year was Graeme Samuel AO, Chairperson, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
It was well attended by members of alumni, staff and the public.
Graeme's presentation, "Competition with compassion - Australia's economic success story" focussed on the key role played by a decade of competition policy reforms in Australia's ongoing economic success.
The Division of Economic and Financial Studies established the Di Yerbury Economic and Financial Studies Lecture in 2004.
The inaugural address was delivered by Mr Ian Macfarlane AC, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
The intent of the public lecture is to draw attention to key challenges facing the Australian economy and encourage debate about strategic options.
The lecture provides a wonderful opportunity to engage with staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders. The lecture was named in honour of Macquarie University's Vice Chancellor, Emeritus Professor Di Yerbury.
