Professor Ed Davis, AM, Dean of the Division of Economic and Financial Studies at Macquarie University, represented the independent judging panel of leading academics, members of relevant professional associations and public organisations, and figures from government that work closely with HR departments at the 2006 Australian HR Awards on Friday 15 September at Doltone House Sydney. Davis was also Head Judge for the Award for Lifetime Achievement in HR.Professor Davis emphasised the importance of celebrating some of the great work being done in Australian HRM, "Not only does high quality HRM help organisations to lift performance in often tough competitive markets, it makes a very real difference to the quality of people's lives at work."
Among the winners were Alec Bashinsky, from Deloitte, for Best HR Director, and Avril Henry, AH Revelations, for the Lifetime Achievement in HR Award. Rob White, CEO of the Spastic Centre, was a finalist in the HR Champion - CEO Award. Davis congratulated all winners with a special mention to former MGSM MBA students Bashinsky and White; and Ms Henry, a frequent contributor at the prestigious, annual Women, Management and Employee Relations Conference.
