Dean honoured in Australia Day awards

Dean of the Division of Economic and Financial Studies at Macquarie University, Professor Ed Davis, was made a Member in the General Division (AM) in the 2006 Australia Day awards.

Ed DavisDavis was recognised for his service to education, and to the community in the areas of equity in employment, industrial relations and human resource management.

“I am extremely honoured by this award, and the message that it sends about the importance of human resource management and equal employment opportunity. Fair work practices are essential for high levels of performance; these in turn are at the heart of Australian prosperity,” said Professor Davis.

A former Deputy Director of the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Davis has won numerous awards during his 30-year career in human resource management, including a 1997 Macquarie University award for outstanding teaching, and in 2004 for outstanding service; Life Membership of the Industrial Relations Society of Australia; and a Lifetime Achievement in HR Award at the National Human Resources Awards in 2004. In November 2005 Davis was admitted as a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute, Australia’s leading HR professional body.
