Teaching Awards:

RENEE RADICH WON THE PEARSON EDUCATION AUSTRALIA ACCOUNTING / FINANCE LECTURER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR 2006

Renee RadichDR RENEE RADICH, Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, received the prestigious 2006 Pearson Education Accounting / Finance Lecturer of the Year Award. The award, a prize of $3,000 and a plaque, was presented at the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ) Conference Dinner in Wellington, New Zealand on July 4. This award, aimed at encouraging and recognising innovative teaching practices in accounting and finance, recognises outstanding contributions to teaching in terms of: ‘interest and enthusiasm for teaching, promoting student learning, imaginative presentation of course material, command of the subject matter, participation in professional activities and research relating to teaching.’The award is judged by the Education Directors of CPA Australia and the ICAA, from nominations from universities throughout Australia and New Zealand.

 

LEONIE TICKLE AND PETER PETOCZ WON A CARRICK CITATION AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO STUDENT LEARNING

Leonie TickleASSOCIATE PROFESSORS LEONIE TICKLE AND PETER PETOCZ have received 2006 Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching. The citations ‘For Outstanding Contributions To Student Learning’ read as follows:

Associate Professor Leonie Tickle - ‘For the creation of innovative learning resources and assessment tasks that enhance student learning and develop skills in presentation, research, teamwork and professional judgement’;Peter Petocz

Associate Professor Peter Petocz - ‘For enhancing learning and teaching in the discipline of statistics through scholarly investigations into students' ideas about statistics and learning and their pedagogical application.’

Congratulations also to a former member of our Division, Professor John Croucher who received an award: ’For inspiring thousands of students for over thirty years with an excellent ability to communicate ideas and making outstanding contributions to learning and teaching practice.’

The Awards have a value of $10,000 and will be formally presented at the University of New South Wales on Tuesday 8 August, 2006.
