Vinita Deodhar, PhD student in the Department of Economics, received the Best Presentation Award (for PhD and Masters Students) at the 8th Australasian Urban/Planning History Conference in Wellington on Friday 10th February 2006.
Vinita addressed an audience largely consisting of academics and practitioners in the field of town and urban planning, heritage planners and historians
In her paper Public Spending on Local Heritage Programs – Some Economic Perspectives and Policy Implications, Vinita presented a case study to illustrate how budgetary considerations impact research and investigation of heritage, and provided empirical evidence on the link between historical and cultural values of heritage houses and property prices.
