An Australia-wide shortage of skilled accounting and finance professionals is forecast over the next ten years. Accounting is a universal skill, which can take you anywhere globally. Find out the difference between the two areas before choosing your preferences.

12.00pm Want to be an economist?
Economics Associate Professor Tony Bryant describes economists as people who understand complicated economic and social processes, intervene to try to make outcomes better, and set policies that have a major effect on society. With our single or double degree options you can study economics as part of a broadly-based program, combined with subjects like Politics, Business Law etc, or as a specialisation.
12.30pm Be more than a statistic
The subject of statistics is one of the most useful subjects a student will take at University. Statistical methods are routinely applied across the sciences, engineering, social sciences and even the humanities. At Macquarie University statistics subjects can be taken as part of many different degree programs, and are available at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Come and find out the types of problems statisticians work on and the variety of jobs in which statisticians are employed.

Which country has the highest number of actuaries? You may be surprised to know the answer. It's one of the most globalised professions. Actuaries are everywhere. Macquarie's flexible degree options allow you to take a single specialist degree in finance - Bachelor of Applied Finance - or powerful double degree combinations such as BAppFin / BLaws, BAppFin / Commerce-Accounting and so on. Three major aspects of finance studies at Macquarie are: corporate finance; investments and financial markets.

10.30am Introduction to marketing
With a degree in marketing you can go anywhere. Typically graduates start off as a marketing assistant and progress to marketing communications, brand and product management roles to the very highest levels in the private and public sector. The Bachelor of Commerce - Marketing is our most marketing - intensive degree. Employment growth is particularly strong in consumer services, especially financial services and tourism and hospitality. Have marketing degree will travel: it's a highly transportable qualification.
11.00am Want to get into big business?
Two out of three of our business students are either working or have found a full-time job in their final year of study. It's simply because Macquarie business graduates have an extra edge. Two single and seven double degrees prepare you for careers in accounting, banking, economics, finance, business services, manufacturing marketing and tourism. Take a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a Bachelor of International Business (BIB). Or combine a BBA with a more specialist degree like a B Commerce - Accounting. It's your choice!
11.30am Career in human resource management
Our Bachelor of Human Resource Management is a new degree with a difference. In the final year students will be in an organisation working on a real-world HRM project, and putting into practice what they have learnt. In response to the challenges and changes in the workplace this degree places a strong emphasis on the psychology of learning and developing change agent skills. These days a HR Manager plays a critical role in the success of an organisation.
