The Faculty of Business and Economics/GSO and the Faculty of Science/PPDP jointly offer the MCom in Information Systems and Technology (MIST) and the Master of Information Technology (MIT) as a double degree program. Successful students will graduate with full recognition by Macquarie University that two postgraduate degrees have been earned.

Requirements
| Entry Requirements: | Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a GPA of at least 2.70 out of 4.00. However a preference is given to applicants who hold a degree with a significant business, commerce or information systems/technology component, or a degree that demonstrates successful study of an academic or professional discipline in depth, such as economics, law, science, engineering or humanities. Degrees in languages or practical vocations are less suited as preparation for postgraduate study in business and information technology. Structure of the Course
The MIST/MIT double degree requires completion of 12 units. Each unit is a full-semester unit (160 hour workload) carrying four postgraduate credit points. The MIST/MIT double degree is earned when 48 credit points have been completed. The program can be completed in 18 months of full-time study or longer by part-time study.

Progression
Students commence the double degree with the MIST component. Progression to the MIT component of the double degree is conditional upon achieving a minimum GPA of 2.75 over the first 24 credit points. Students who do not achieve a 2.75 GPA will transfer to the MIST degree for graduation after meeting MIST degree requirements.
