Vision
The Globalisation of Knowledge and Service Industries research group is the first group in Australia to collect microdata on export sales and on the offshoring and insourcing of production. It aims to develop an integrated database which links outsourcing, offshoring, export and performance measures at the firm and subsidiary level.
Scope
Australia and other developed countries are experiencing a shift from a manufacturing to a knowledge- and services-based economy that will significantly transform the face of global business in the next decade. This research group examines its implications for businesses, drawing from the disciplines of strategic management, international business, marketing, information systems and economics. Particular research topics include: the management of knowledge in domestic and multinational enterprises; the implications of technology transfer, the migration of knowledge workers; and the development of a knowledge-based economy.
The group is a member of the Offshoring Research Network and will undertake collaborative research with world-class research groups in seven international partner universities: Duke, USA; Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; Manchester Business School, UK; IESE-Navarra, Spain; WHU School of Management, Germany; Erasmus, Netherlands; and Solvay Business School, Belgium.
