Vision
Understanding the flows of skilled labour in the broad context of international supply and demand for skills, as well as the capacity of countries and regions to develop these skills, are essential if Australia is to avoid misdirecting its efforts to attract migrants and international students. We plan to address this important policy issue by building upon our existing individual expertise to create new collaborations, both domestically and internationally, to attract high quality research students and to create an internationally recognised centre for research on skilled labour.
Scope
What makes the group unique is the integration of research on skill formation together with flows of skilled labour. It is a multidisciplinary group, currently including researchers from economics, demography and pedagogy, which employs comparative and interdisciplinary approaches to achieve outcomes in both basic and policy-oriented research.
