Professor Yusuf holds a first class Honours and an M.A. in Statistics from the University of Punjab, and a Ph.D. in Demography from the Australian National University. His teaching and research interests encompass business demographics, consumer behaviour, medical demography and public health, particularly ageing and women's health issues. He has published more than 70 research papers in prestigious journals such as the Population Studies, Journal of Population Research, Journal of Biosocial Science and the Australia and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Professor Yusuf has a special interest in the areas of internet shopping, and household expenditure patterns in Australia. He has written numerous papers on these topics and has made presentations at marketing conferences in Australia and abroad. He chaired a session on Applied and Business Demography at the Congress of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population in Tours (France) in July 2005.
Apart from a very prominent research profile, Professor Yusuf has been consulting for a number of organisations such as the United Nations Population Fund, International Agency for Research on Cancer and the U.S. Academy of Sciences.
Professor Yusuf is a member of numerous national and international associations such as the World Academy of Marketing Science, the Australian & New Zealand Marketing Academy, the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, and the International Sociological Association.
