Wendy Noble provides academic writing support to research students and academic staff across the EFS Division through workshops, writing groups and individual consultations. This support includes workshops on thesis writing, journal article preparation, grant writing, and presentation skills. In addition Wendy runs thesis/project management programs and advises staff on external and internal research grant applications. From 2008, Wendy will co-ordinate a new research training program for EFS PhD students: Transition to Research.
Wendy completed her PhD at Macquarie University in 2006, and her doctorate thesis was on argumentation in novice academic writing in a second language. Wendy has worked as a professional and academic writing consultant in the private sector (2000-2005). She previously lectured on the Macquarie University English for Academic Purposes Program and taught within the National Centre for Teaching and Research programs (1991-2000).
Research interests
Genre analysis, discipline specific discourse, concordancing, and second language acquisition.
